THE CHALLENGE OF
Modern Horse Nutrition

Even the best diets can leave hidden gaps that impact performance and the overall well-being of your horse.

Maintaining optimal nutrition for horses is a complex challenge. Even with the best feeding programs, hidden deficiencies in essential elements — like selenium, magnesium, or zinc — can compromise a horse’s health, performance, and recovery.

Soil depletion, unbalanced forage, and over-supplementation are common issues that traditional blood tests can only partly reveal.

Blood levels fluctuate and often reflect short-term changes, making them less reliable for evaluating true nutritional status. That’s why we offer a breakthrough: a simple, non-invasive hair analysis that accurately assesses elemental and metal levels in the horse’s body over time.

Hair reflects long-term metabolic trends, giving veterinarians and owners an invaluable tool to identify deficiencies, monitor the impact of dietary adjustments, and build more precise nutrition strategies — all without the stress or complexity of blood collection.

WHY BLOOD TESTS
Aren’t Enough

For tracking long-term nutritional health, blood testing
alone is not the ideal tool.

Blood reflects only a moment in time — not the full nutritional story.

Blood testing can offer useful information, but it mainly reflects short-term changes in the body, not long-term nutritional status.

Because the body works hard to maintain balance (homeostasis), blood levels of elements often appear normal even when deeper deficiencies exist.

Blood draws can also cause stress for the horse and require veterinary assistance, making frequent monitoring difficult.

INTRODUCING HAIR ANALYSIS
A Smarter Alternative

Long-term insights, non-invasive collection, and clear actionable results.

  • Hair analysis offers a stress-free, non-invasive way to assess a horse’s true nutritional elemental status.
  • Unlike blood, hair is not regulated by homeostasis, meaning it faithfully records mineral and metal levels over time — providing a clearer picture of long-term nutritional trends.
  • Hair retains evidence of both deficiencies and inadvertent heavy metal exposures, making it a much more reliable tool for detecting hidden imbalances.
  • Simple to collect and easy to retest, TrichAnalytics’ hair analysis gives owners and veterinarians the insights they need to fine-tune nutrition and support optimal health.
